Day 102
Proverbs 17-24
Scripture: 18 13 He who answers before listening—
that is his folly and his shame.
Observation: Listen before you speak.
Application: So I think this is applicable in everything in life…listening to your friends before you give advice and also listening to God before you make plans etc. listen listen listen…
Prayer: Father help me with this please. You know I am good at listening to other people but listening to you (or hearing you) is still a struggle, so please help me with this. Thank You for everything you do for me! Amen
Ok so remember I said I will have to choose between versus, well I wasn’t lying..there was literally 10 that jumped out at me for different reasons today and I chose the above one as the most important but thought id share some of the others too, but not as complete soaps and also why they jumped out at me:
1: This verse made an impact on me when I heard it the first time when I was 8 years old. It was in Afrikaans and it is until this day the only verse that I can recite in Afrikaans completely without thinking or pausing etc etc…and I can even tell you were in the Bible it is etc…(I think it might be because I love talking and was scared to death by it when I was little hahaha) in Afrikaans it was just so much more scary!
18 21 The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit
Die tong het mag oor dood en lewe, die wat lief is om te praat sal die gevolge dra….
2: This one is a tongue in the cheek verse for me hahah amost of you know that I don’t sleep very well so technically speaking I should have food to spare and should be super rich :) (I know I know I am super rich in all ways except for monetary :))
20 13 Do not love sleep or you will grow poor;
stay awake and you will have food to spare
3: And this one is for Lance. I don’t think ill ever be able to read this verse again and not giggle (even though it is soooo true :)) we had a long discussion on this one night at the Current’s house and he came up with this gem- sorry you had to be there to know what I am talking about!
23 13 Do not withhold discipline from a child;
if you punish him with the rod, he will not die.
Love love love proverbs! Have a great rest of the week :)
