Day 58
1 Kings 9-13
Scripture: 13 18 The old prophet answered, “I too am a prophet, as you are. And an angel said to me by the word of the LORD: ‘Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.’” (But he was lying to him.)
Observation: He knew what God had told him to do, but then was convinced by someone that lied 새 애 something else.
Application: Ok so the first time I read this I was thinking wow that was harsh God…I mean he was told by a priest that it was ok to go home with him and eat etc…and now You kill him because he did that. I mean it was a priest!!! If you can’t believe a priest then who can you believe??? And that was when it hit me…so God wasn’t upset that the man of God believed the priest as per say but He was upset that he then disobeyed God. Because God actually spoke to him directly giving him orders and commands and guidelines etc etc and he then believed someone else not listening to God. He should have trusted in God 100% and not listen to anyone or anything other than what God said (this is how Satan makes us sin)…but I still struggle with the fact that he was killed, sorry! but then again God can do just what He wants to because He is God and this was obviously a very important command that the man of God broke and God felt very strongly about it and the punishment (He doesn’t do anything lightly)
Prayer: Father please help me to listen to you and not to other people which are trying to steer us from You by lying to us or just bringing sinful things into our lives. Help us that we honor You in all we do. Thank You for everything You do for us. Amen
