Week 9 - Check in

Week 9 Check in

OK so once more today’s post will be tough love! But it is really for your own good and because I care about each one of you (I used to hate it when my mom said that to me but now I understand what she meant hahaha)

And I do love you (yes I know I love a lot of people hehe) just the same whether you finish with us in July or not but still feel I have to say this:

Again this week I am asking the question: Where are you with your reading and how is it coming along?

I just care too much about you guys and THIS and really don’t want to leave anyone behind! So for some of you it has been smooth sailing all the way, having the ride of your life and discovering something new every day (not worried about youJ). Some of you are getting through it, making the necessary changes in your schedules and staying on track and also being inspired regularly (not worried about you J). A few of you are also plowing along, but feeling a little behind here and there but loving it all the same (not worried about youJ). And ai then there is some of you who feel that you are sooooo behind there is no hope in finishing with the rest of us in July (worried about you L).

Some of you in the last group might even feel like giving up and wondering if you should even try to catch up.

And now the justifications for stopping might start “At least I am reading more of the Bible than I have, so I’ll just take longer to finish. As long as I am spending more time in the Word it’s ok, isn’t it?”

Ummm no it’s not! Ultimately when you signed up for this, you did it for a reason. And that was because you wanted to commit yourself to read, every word of the Bible in 180 days with the rest of us. You likely also had a reason why you wanted that. Think back to what that was and write it down! And then let’s make it happen…together!!!

Because I don’t see some of you and also don’t always get check in from you guys it’s a bit of a challenge for me to encourage you individually. But every single one of you are important to me!!! If you fall out of the group you lose the rest of us praying for you and also lose the accountability factor which in most cases leads to success in programs (think about diets, you are more likely to succeed if you have to report to someone if you lost weight or not hahaha).

If you stop now, it is quite likely you will not pick back up again. And it is very likely you will not finish. Ever. And I want you to finish. For you.

So what can I do to help? Leave a comment or send me an email with why you are struggling or how I can pray for you. And I’ll do whatever I can to help you succeed.

For those that aren’t behind, or aren’t in danger of slipping too far back, I have a few questions for you (if you want to answer of course ;)) :

1. Why did you decide to read the Bible in 180 days and why are you sticking to it?

2. Have you seen any change in your life as a result of this commitment? If so, what?

Please, whether you are behind, on schedule or ahead, consider leaving a comment that might help someone else who needs it as your check in comment this week. Also let us know where you are in the reading. I promise no judgment no matter where you are, just lots of love.

And, as always, please feel free to email me anytime.

I really love each of you and want to celebrate in July with all of you after having read the entire Bible together. You CAN do it!

Blessings and prayers to you all for the next week!!!

  1. I'm on track. I decided to do Bible in 180 because I wanted the accountability to finish the Bible at a fast pace. I'm so thankful that Ilani and everyone else is doing this together! It is helping me stay in the Word regularly and finish on time.

  2. I'm on track. Love the Kings! (Probably because the short stories match well with my attention span). Also, I have always wanted to have 2KNG920 as a license plate on my car...

  3. I'm 2 days behind, but I plan on catching up this evening (as soon as I finish this post). I've been a little overwhelmed with other stuff and while I didn't want to fall behind, I also didn't want to rush through the reading and not give it the attention I feel it deserves. I also wanted to post to let other people who might be behind that they aren't the only ones and to encourage them to get back on track. Even if it means reading a bit more everyday.

I did 180 days for 2 reasons - to support Ilani's efforts and mainly because I have never read the entire Bible and wanted to do it.

I haven't seen any physical or tangible changes, but I do feel better about continuing my education of God and Jesus. I also feel I am able to ask better questions now that I have some basic information. Now, back to my reading!!

  4. On track. Being blessed through the word every day. Rediscovering faith that I thought I had lost and reclaiming my identity in God. Being reminded of God's promises and the plan He has for my life. Basically one amazing and very exciting journey claiming back what I allowed Satan to steal from me in the last ten years. Was inspired and motivated by the passion, fervour and joy that I saw here. And hadn't spent time with God's word for a very long time- it was time- God's time...and now I cant get enough!

  5. Sorry for the late check-in. I am on track as of yesterday. Moving set me back a couple of days, but I was determined to catch up yesterday, even if it meant trying to organize the kitchen ;-).

I have done the Christian thing (going to church, teaching sunday school, working as a secretary at our church, etc.) all of my life, but you know what, I have never been able to put it all together. You really can't get it if you only read a verse here and a verse there and only open your Bible on Saturday or Sunday. So, I am doing this for me so I can put it all together.

The only change I have noticed so far is that I want to pick up the Bible and read it ~ not that I have to.

Thanks for all of your support, Ilani.

P.S. I only taught as high as first graders because anything above that, they knew more than I did. :-)
