Day 3

DAY 3
Genesis 17-23

Scripture: Gen 19: 26 But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Observation: The angels said do not look back but she did and turned into a pillar of salt.

Application: To me this is like she was clinging to the past and unwilling to turn completely away. Am I doing this (probably since I am flawed but working on it), looking back at sin while trying to move towards God? And we all know that you can’t make progress with God if you are holding on to pieces of your old life...you can’t serve two masters right? Correct, you can’t!

Prayer: Father please help me to move completely away from sin! Not just to work on it on a daily basis but to actually do it! And if I know of a particular area in my life (or person) that causes me to sin, help me to keep that part away from me. Thank you that I know you are amazing in helping me fight sin with sometimes taking decisions out of my hands to ensure that I don’t even have to choose! Thank you for that! And thank you for helping me with this and making me stronger day by day. Amen

  1. S - Gen. 18-15 - Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, "I did not laugh." But he said, "Yes, you did laugh."

O - God sees and knows everything, even when we try to lie to him.

A - We (and I mean I) sometimes like to pretend that God doesn't see it, or pay attention, when I sin. But he clearly does. It doesn't matter if you try to trick yourself or him into believing you didn't sin; he knows you did and he will call you out.

P - Father, I know that I sin. Help direct my thoughts to repentance instead of avoidance. Let me be honest with you, because you are gracious and will forgive me if I truly repent. I ask this is Jesus' name. Amen.
