Genesis 28-32

Scripture: Genesis 30 1When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister. So she said to Jacob, “Give me children, or I’ll die!”

Observation: Jacob showed Rachel so much love, but for her this was not enough. She needed to compete with her sister for his attention by giving him children, and she thought this would make him give her his devoted love…mmm he already gave that to her!!!I mean the man worked for seven (14) years just so that he could marry her, that’s how much he loved her :) 

Application: So we could also be guilty of what Rachel did, by trying to earn God’s love. And this could cause two problems, either we think we ‘deserve’ his love because we have been good enough…or we realize we can’t earn his love, so then we assume it can’t be ours…wrong! God loves us..period! His love has no beginning and no end.

Prayer: Father help me know that I am worthy of your love and that I don’t have to ‘earn’ your love. But that you love me no matter what and that your love is sooo patient. Please help me also to let other people know about this fact, so that they will also know that You love them... Amen
