Day 15
Exodus: 28-33
Scripture: 31: 15 For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of Sabbath rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death.
Observation: Don’t work on the seventh day.
Application: I think for me this is to do with trying to get my work done in the other six days (which I definitely can! I know some people don’t have the time I do but I really don’t have any excusesJ) and to focus on God and things concerning God on the Sabbath day and to recharge and reflect. And I am really trying to do this since I decided to make Sunday my day off and not to blog on that day (because once on the internet I can get distracted and spent hours doing absolutely nothing on it!) So what I would like to do is to spend time doing things for God on Sundays or things that would bring me closer to Him.
Prayer: Father, this week the readings are full of details and laws and I am sure there will be lots of questions from everyone reading. Please give us the understanding we need and please God speak to us individually and give us what You want us to take from these passages. Thank you for the reminder to not ‘work’ on Your Sabbath and please strengthen me to keep this commitment I made but also to serve you in a pleasing manner all days not just one day in a week. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you…Amen

S - Exodus 30:15 "The rich are not to give more than a half shekel and the poor are not to give less when you make the offering to the LORD to atone for your lives."
ReplyDeleteO - God views everyone on an equal footing. He does not give preference to those who are rich - you can't buy your way into his mercy. At the same time, he expects you to contribute even if you are poor. Lack of wealth does not excuse you from giving back to God.
A - This stuck with me because there is a lot going on now in the world centered around money. The whole Wall street thing, bad economies everywhere etc. We are so focused on those who have and those who have not that it was refreshing for me to see, in print, that we are all equal in God's eyes. Everyone must pay, and while it might be easier to pay when you're rich, you can't just give more in order to not follow rules.
P - Lord, help me remember that money is not everything, that I should give to you not only what I can, but what you ask. Help me not be controlled by greed but instead view money as a tool to live. In Your name I pray. Amen.
So true...Amen
