Day 33- SOAP

Day 33

Deuteronomy 23-28

Scripture: 23 23 Whatever your lips utter you must be sure to do, because you made your vow freely to the LORD your God with your own mouth.

Observation: When you make a vow to God you should keep it.

Application: Absolutely 100% if you promise something to God you SHOULD keep it, even though it might be very very hard you should keep it (sometimes it feels impossibly hard but if we try hard enough we should be ok ;)) But on the other side we tend to say to God “I promise I’ll do this and this and this if You do this…and I saw from a previous scripture that you really shouldn’t test God by making these promises, they are also usually made when you are emotional (angry, sad etc) so it is probably things that you as mere human couldn’t possibly do (I promise ill never ever get irritated towards anyone again!mmm not gonna happen) so you are setting yourself up to fail, and that would make you feel even worse (BUT I could promise to TRY and never get irritated again )…I think this is also for life in general, if you promise to do something you should do it, because someone is counting on you to do it. If you think you won’t be able to do it that is fine just don’t promise it! So think before you promise!

Prayer: Jesus I am so sorry for all the times that I promised to do something and didn’t, regardless if it was possible or not, because I should have thought of it before I made the promise. I am sorry for all the people I have let down and most of all I am sorry if I let You down by not fulfilling a promise to You. Father please help me to not just make promises I can’t keep but to think about them before I make them, and if I do make them that I will keep them. Thank You so much for Your amazing love, patience, faithfulness, kindness and grace (and I can go on and on and on) that You show towards us. You are such an amazing aspect of our lives, thank You for being part of it!

  1. S- Deuteronomy 25:13-16

    New International Version (NIV)

13 Do not have two differing weights in your bag—one heavy, one light. 14 Do not have two differing measures in your house—one large, one small. 15 You must have accurate and honest weights and measures, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. 16 For the LORD your God detests anyone who does these things, anyone who deals dishonestly.

O- God expects me to be accurate and honest.

A- Where am I lacking, Lord? yikes.

P- Lord, show me where I lack your character - someone with honesty, accuracy, and integrity. Help me Lord, to be be a person who glorifies YOU.
